When to tell VA about a change

  • You get married, divorced, or your spouse dies.
  • You have a child, adopt, or a stepchild joins your household.
  • A child turns 18 and is not attending school full time.
  • A child marries, or is no longer in your care.

Remove dependent

Removing a dependent changes your monthly award. VA reviews the request before anything takes effect, and will send you a letter explaining the change.
